artist statement
My work centers on exploring themes of intimacy, femininity, nostalgia, and introspection. My historical use of journaling and prose inspire the application of my words in my handwriting upon my sculptures of various explorative materials including wood, stained glass, metal forming, and paper casting. My body of work relies on and is inspired by self and queer love, the idea that one may love fully within another person, regardless of their gender, and how queer relationships inherently break the boundaries patriarchy has imposed onto cisgender heterosexual relationships. I also lean into female power and the embrace of femininity through a feminist lense. I could spend every day of the rest of my life creating new work and writing about love without running out of words. Baring my soul to my audience has helped me unravel aspects of my heart that have become deeply healing and evocative processes of expressing my feelings. Of all the mediums I experiment with, all of my pieces are grounded in my words, with the ultimate goal of encouraging my viewers to take a look inside themselves and analyze how their emotions influence their experiences and perceptions of the world.
